What We Believe

about the bible

We believe the Bible, including both the Old and New Testaments, is a divine revelation, the original autographs of which were verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, thus rendering them trustworthy and solely authoritative in faith and practice.

The scriptures reveal the mind of God concerning the need and method of human redemption, and the character and destiny of mankind are "useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

II Peter 1:20-21
John 5:39
II Tim. 3:16-17

about God

We believe in one living and true God, who is self-existent, eternal and infinite, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the same in essence, though distinct in personality.

about Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal and only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, of virgin birth, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sins of the world by His death.  We believe in His bodily resurrection, ascension, and visible imminent return to the world according to His promise.

about the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from God to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment, and by His indwelling to regenerate, sanctify and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit supernaturally guides us into the truth of the Scriptures, and has given gifts to be ministered both in the body and the world.

about people

We believe that all people,  by nature and by choice, are sinners, ensnared by the subtlety of Satan, but that "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."  We believe, therefore, that those who receive Christ as Lord and Savior are kept secure in God's love and will rejoice forever in God's presence; those who refuse to accept Christ as Lord and Savior will be forever separated from God and, at the judgment of the Great White Throne will be condemned and cast into the Lake of Fire with Satan and his angels.

We believe that every human being is responsible to God in all matters of faith.  We further believe that Satan is the enemy of all believers.

about baptism

We believe that the Scriptures teach us to follow the ordinances, commanded by Christ, of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

Baptism of believers, by immersion in water, is a symbol of spiritual baptism and is a public, visible, open confession of one's faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  It is a symbol of an inward transformation which has taken place by receiving Christ as personal Savior.  It also pictures our identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ when we were baptized into His body, the church.

The Lord's Supper is a commemoration of Christ's body and blood given for the remission of our sin, which allows us to have communion with one another and with Him.  We further believe that we are to examine our communion with Christ and one another at the Lord's Supper.
